On May 20th, a new edition of the International Aquaculture Industry Exhibition, Aquafuture, will be held, taking place for the first time at the Vigo Fair Institute (Ifevi). Fishing and aquaculture play a prominent role in the European aquaculture sector, with 2,600 companies, over 200 million euros in turnover, and 5,600 related jobs.
The event will bring together more than 200 exhibitors from 26 countries. Participating entities range from educational to technological and commercial fields, including marine and inland activities, mollusc cultivation, and algae farming.
The Ministry of the Sea will have its own space that will bring together seven public and private entities, including Igafa, Cetmar, CIMA, Anfaco-Cecopesca, and Fish Trader. Additionally, the Xunta is managing 239 aid applications totaling 65 million euros to boost the competitiveness, sustainability, and innovation capacity of the Galician aquaculture sector.
