The American company Ska Fabricating has just announced the purchase of GR-X Manufacturing. This acquisition is a clear strategic move to leverage the complementary strengths and technology of the two companies. In this regard, Ska Fabricating CEO Jim Mackay confirms that Ska Fabricating’s roots are in the craft beer market, “and we have grown quickly from that base into other can decorating and rigid container lines. We see this as a natural progression in our growth as an industry leader in container handling.”

Add that both companies have been successful in the North American packaging equipment market by focusing on meeting unique needs ignored by other suppliers and offering excellent value. Commenting on the purchase, Jerry Pollard, founder of GR-X, adds: “GR-X and Ska Fab share similar values: a strong customer focus and always looking for new ways to grow and innovate. Both companies will benefit from each other’s strengths and our customers will be the beneficiaries”.

Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, GR-X Manufacturing, specializes in providing depalletizing and palletizing equipment systems for consumer products and food and beverage industries. Despite the purchase, GR-X will retain its brand in the future and all customers will have the same support. For its part, Ska Fabricating plans to keep the more than 100 employees of both companies on staff and will gain much-needed space and production capacity at the Grand Rapids facility.

The two rapidly expanding packaging solutions providers will benefit from each other’s capabilities to offer the best value and technology in packaging line solutions for small and medium-sized operations. Both companies also offer depalletizing and packaging solutions for various consumer packaged goods, although there is very little overlap in their specific market segments.
