Alupro, the aluminum packaging recycling industry organization in the United Kingdom, has launched a free resource kit aimed at local authorities to facilitate aluminum packaging recycling among residents.
The package, named Simply Love Your Recycling!, includes animations, social media graphics, and downloadable materials that local councils can use directly to explain which packaging can be recycled and how to present it correctly. The resources also correct common mistakes, such as cleaning aluminum foil or handling metal lids.
The initiative is part of the Simpler Recycling regulations, which will come into effect on March 31, 2026, and will require local councils to provide clear information and collect materials such as glass, metal, and plastic separately, replacing mixed waste collection.
Tom Giddings, Executive Director of Alupro, noted that effective communication with residents is key to increasing recycling rates and that the tools provided will allow councils to engage the community in a more practical and visual way.
The materials are available free of charge on the Alupro website and seek to promote a behavioral change that increases citizen participation and reduces the amount of aluminum packaging sent to landfills.
