The British organization Alupro has launched a new digital campaign to promote best practices in metal packaging recycling in Calderdale, with the aim of increasing recycling rates at the curb. The initiative, called ‘MetalMatters’, began last September 22 and targets more than 90,000 households in the municipality.

The campaign combines targeted digital content on social media with promotional materials, such as stickers for recycling containers, to educate residents about the benefits of recycling cans and other metal packaging. This action is part of a broader Alupro program, which since 2012 has worked with local authorities throughout the United Kingdom to involve millions of households in sustainable recycling practices.

Tom Giddings, executive director of Alupro, has highlighted that this renewed version of the campaign will allow the Calderdale Council to achieve measurable improvements in citizen participation, encouraging residents to adopt consistent and responsible recycling habits.

Funded by the metal packaging industry, ‘MetalMatters’ seeks to strengthen local recycling schemes through segmented communication strategies, tailored to different regions and demographic groups.
