With the arrival of Christmas, Alupro warns of the increase in aluminum packaging waste, from cake capsules to roasting trays, cans and metal caps. The mince pie capsules alone could fill two shipping containers.
Although aluminum is easily recyclable, it is estimated that 3,000 tons end up in landfills each year due to ignorance or convenience. To improve collection, Alupro offers free resources to city councils, with clear guides to maximize domestic recycling.
According to Tom Giddings, executive director of Alupro, “Small gestures such as cleaning trays or grouping aluminum foil help aluminum to be recycled again and again. We encourage everyone to use our resources and keep aluminum out of landfills this holiday season.”
