The IAI (International Aluminum Institute) published a report with the aim of assessing the contribution that the aluminum sector makes to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This document details the impact on each of the 17 SDGs, as well as case studies that serve to better understand the current situation and foresee actions to move forward in the next decade.

Miles Prosser, secretary general of the World Aluminum Institute said: “The aluminum industry is an important contributor to the global economy, providing jobs, infrastructure and billions of tax dollars to support livelihoods. But we recognize that contributing to sustainable development requires responsibility in the production and realization of the metal’s benefits through its use in sustainable applications. It also requires continuous and collaborative efforts from all stakeholders along the value chain.”

According to Perosser, the IAI is focused on developing this work and will continue to pursue an open dialogue with key stakeholders involved in activities across all objectives.
