The Aluminium Federation (Alfed) has highlighted in its latest report the prominent role of this sector in the UK economy. Specifically, in this document entitled:  “The Aluminium Industry in the UK,” prepared in collaboration with the Fraser of Allander Institute (FAI) at the University of Strathclyde, it reveals that the aluminum industry as a whole supports the employment of 108,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs across the UK and contributes GBP 9.4 billion in Gross Value Added (GVA) to the UK economy. The aluminum production sector alone accounts for GBP 1.9 billion in GVA and supports 16,500 jobs, demonstrating its significant economic impact.

The findings align with key points of the UK Aluminium Manifesto 2024. Both documents call for a comprehensive industrial strategy, increased investment in infrastructure, energy security and policy stability.

Alfed urges the UK Government to support outstanding initiatives to promote long-term growth and sustainability in the aluminum sector. The full report provides valuable data and insights and serves as a strategic tool for stakeholders and policy makers.

The UK aluminum industry also plays a key role in the industrial sector and the wider economy. As the UK moves towards a more sustainable and circular economy, the strategic value of aluminum is expected to grow,
