Aldi is capitalizing on the growing interest in canned wine in the UK, citing Google Trends data showing a 100% increase in searches for canned wine since June, according to The Times. The chain highlights the success of its Pinot Grigio Fizz (£1.89, 20 cl) and Pinot Grigio Blush Fizz (£1.89, 20 cl) cans as prime examples of this trend.

Wine expert and Master of Wine, Sam Caporn, has stated that these products represent “a paradigm shift in the perception of canned wine, as their quality rivals that of bottled wine. She described the Pinot Grigio Fizz as a “classic spritzer, super refreshing for any outdoor plan,” and the Pinot Grigio Blush Fizz as a “smooth, fruity, and light option that will delight those looking for a more delicate sparkling style.”

Aldi presents these varieties as an affordable and ready-to-drink option, ideal for picnics, festivals, or relaxing days in the garden, without the need for corkscrews or special glasses. The chain expects the trend to continue to rise throughout the rest of the summer.
