Alcoa Corporation announced that it is innovating in alloy development and implementation, strengthening its position as a supplier of advanced aluminum alloys. The company’s innovations include the introduction of a new high-strength 6000 series alloy, A210 ExtruStrongTM, which offers benefits in a wide range of extruded applications, including transportation, construction, industrial and consumer goods.

The company confirmed that its C611 EZCastTM alloy, a high-performance alloy that does not require specialized heat treatment is being recognized this week with an international award at the 2022 International Die Casting Competition in Lexington, organized by the North American Die Casting Association.

The alloy was used to make large vehicle components, reducing costs with the greatest efficiency. “Aluminum is a material of choice for the low-carbon future, and alloy innovations such as A210 ExtruStrong and C611 EZCast are key to providing fit-for-purpose solutions that help automotive and industrial customers reduce costs and achieve their sustainability ambitions.”said Kelly Thomas, Alcoa’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer.

“Alcoa’s C611 alloy is the first big step in NIO’s future smelting development.” said Gary Hughes, NIO’s director of New Engineered Product Introduction. “We reduced energy consumption and carbon emissions by using C611,” added.

Alcoa, the U.S.-based alloy manufacturing company, has licensed Shanghai-based CSMet New Material Group Co. the exclusive right to produce and sell C611 EZCast inorganic chemical reaction alloy, which is more flexible and stronger. It is a new generation of high-strength alloys that allows industrialists to have a wide range of sectors for any technological perspective.

These alloys were first developed by the Alcoa company, and are the main components of most alloys manufactured in the world. To solve the challenges presented by its customers, Alcoa relies on resources such as the Alcoa Technical Center and its Centers of Excellence, which offer more than thirty years of experience to the metallurgical and engineering market.
