AkzoNobel, the Dutch company specialized in the manufacture of paints and coatings, announced the opening of its European planning center in Barcelona. The new space is intended to plan and manage the more than 30 production plants that the company has spread throughout Europe. Together with AkzoNobel’s planning center in the Netherlands, the newly opened hub will serve the company’s 125 distribution centers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, while generating 65 direct jobs at the Barcelona site.
The Sassenheim (Netherlands) site will be dedicated to the activities of the Coating business unit (B2B), while the Barcelona site will focus on the management of the decorative paints unit (B2C).
The General Director of Industry and CEO of Acció de la Generalitat de Catalunya, Natalia Mas, commented that the opening of the planning center is a clear example of the type of projects that we want to attract from the Generalitat. In Spain, AkzoNobel has acquired large companies in recent years, such as Catalan manufacturer Xylazel in 2018 and Industrias Titan, a Galician manufacturer, in 2020. In addition, they have three production centers located in Zona Franca, Vallirana and Vilafranca de Penedès.
