AkzoNobel has teamed up with the Akhuwat Foundation to implement the “Let’s Colour” project in Pakistan, benefiting the inhabitants of approximately 1,000 households in the city of Mustafabad with the cooling power of its paint. This is the company’s largest project in the country so far.
In the region, where summer temperatures are often very high and reach 50°C, it has become common to paint houses with Dulux Weathershield. This product has the Keep Cool technology that can lower the surface temperature of the houses by up to 5°C.

A group of 26 artists and 41 AkzoNobel volunteers teamed up to revitalize several community spaces, carrying out a project over four months. Thanks to their work, 8,250 liters of Dulux paint were used and around 6,000 residents were able to enjoy these colorful new spaces.

Mubbasher Omar, CEO of AkzoNobel Pakistan Limited, expressed his pride in seeing the positive impact and visible difference the ‘Let’s Colour’ project has made to the local community. The change has generated a renewed sense of pride in Mustafabad and the company is excited to have contributed to a more colorful and inspiring future for this community.

Also, Amjad Saqib, who is the founder of the non-profit organization called Akhuwat Foundation, which focuses on fighting poverty through interest-free microloans, commented on the partnership with AkzoNobel on an important community-led social initiative. This collaboration reflects the fundamental principles of its own philosophy and will bring new hope to the inhabitants of the city, which now has a renewed and vibrant identity thanks to this project.
AkzoNobel’s color specialists painstakingly selected 51 shades from the wide range of more than 2,000 colors available in Dulux paints from Pakistan. From green tones that bring vibrancy, to warm yellows and vibrant reds, each was carefully chosen to inspire inhabitants and create more fun and welcoming home environments.

Murals in public spaces are a way to bring the community together and celebrate its cultural diversity and common heritage. These murals depict themes such as the importance of education and the beauty of nature. In addition, thanks to these new murals, a previously neglected area of the city has become a welcoming place to gather in the evenings.

In 2022, AkzoNobel carried out a similar project in Jodhpur, India. In addition to painting the exteriors of about 250 homes in the famous Blue City, the roofs of more than 100 homes were coated with Dulux Weathershield Protect. The company launched the “Let’s Colour” initiative in 2009, which has had a great impact so far. More than 3,000 projects have been carried out worldwide, with more than 2.2 million liters of paint donated.
