Akzonobel recently announced that it is collaborating in the Minutes Matter campaign with the aim of reclaiming telephone booths in the UK.
The Minutes Matter campaign is an initiative developed by the British Coatings Federation (BCF) and the Community Heartbeat Trust (CHT). This campaign focuses on addressing the problem of an ambulance not being able to reach victims in the crucial minutes after a heart attack.

“Our Dulux Trade brand in the UK is the largest contributor to a national scheme converting disused red telephone boxes into defibrillator kiosks. Dulux has been involved in the Minutes Matter campaign since 2014 and has so far donated paint for more than 220 phone booth renovations. As well as creating a potentially life-saving community resource, the scheme is also helping to preserve one of the UK’s most iconic landmarks.”The company said.
As part of this campaign, BCF and CHT have been working with rural communities to convert unused phone booths into Community Public Access Defibrillator sites or cPADs. Paint manufacturer members of the British Coatings Federation have stepped in to help preserve these iconic structures in communities by arranging for the donation of free paint and base coat for renovation.

In addition, the British Coatings Federation has partnered with the Community Heartbeat Trust and BT to promote the installation of defibrillators in BT phone booths throughout the UK. There are thousands of BT phone booths in the UK that are inactive, and by having a defibrillator installed, they could be helping to save lives.
