Ardagh Metal Packaging adds a fourth color to Canetta canned wines

The Canetta wine company has taken on the task of producing a new variety of wine with an unusual color called “orange”. This novel beverage will be distributed in 187ml cans, created by Ardagh Metal Packaging.

The complex flavor and deep color of Canetta’s exclusive orange wine was achieved because the white grapes used to prepare it were in contact with the skin for a long time. This particular wine has dark honey tones and contains a pleasant combination of red berries, garrigue and pink pepper. The way in which David Migueres and Luca Pronzato have conceived Canetta is thinking of those adventurers who like to discover new flavors. They do this by offering 187-milliliter cans as an attractive medium for those interested in trying wine for the first time without feeling pressured to drink too much.

As the years have gone by, interest in orange wine has increased. According to a recent survey, almost 70% of consumers are under 35 years of age. In addition, many choose the aperitif as the best opportunity to try this new product that is so popular among young drinkers.

The latest study conducted by the French firm Viavoice found that orange wine consumption had increased considerably. A high percentage of drinkers were found to be under 35 years of age and could be seen in informal and outdoor situations. Younger drinkers also tend to be open to non-traditional packaging formats for wine, and enjoy adventurous drinks in casual, outdoor and on-the-go settings. Lightweight, convenient and quick-cooling single-dose cans are thus the ideal complement to Canetta’s bold wines.

Gerlof Toenhake, one of Ardagh Metal Packaging Europe’s regional directors, said, “To see Canetta add this exciting orange wine to its reds, whites and rosés to offer four colors of wine in cans is really gratifying. The AMP wine can is specifically designed so that the wine protects its flavor and aroma, and retains its appearance for serving by the glass.”

Canned wine packaging is becoming increasingly popular thanks to a 14.9% increase in the sector between 2022 and 2024. This is mainly due to the convenience and safety that this type of packaging offers, in addition to its sustainability. They can also be used to fill a variety of products, from small cans to large containers. The creative limitations of designs and decorations are almost non-existent, allowing wine companies to turn their products into something much more attractive.
