Heinz continues to eliminate plastic, this time with the launch of “convenient, slimline” cardboard sleeves on all multi-pack canned products. This is the new multi-pack of Heinz organic pouches.

The PEFC-certified cardboard used for Heinz’s new eco-friendly multipack is fully recyclable and “comes from sustainably managed and renewable forests”, according to the company’s website. “The innovative wrap design uses 50% less material than a fully enclosed wrap-around box and 10% less than a traditional carton sleeve design.”

In addition to selecting responsibly sourced renewable material and optimizing design to minimize footprint, Heinz is also advancing efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The manufacture and transport of this innovative new sleeve is also carbon neutral. Thus, the CO2 Footprint is reduced by almost 20% “on our four packs compared to the equivalent shrink wrap design.”

The new Heinz solution is part of a three-year, £25 million investment and installation at its Kitt Green factory near Wigan.

“This new liner is available now across the Heinz Soups range as part of the winter pack on Heinz to Home and will be launched on all Heinz canned products and in major UK retailers from autumn 2021,” concludes the note published on its corporate site.
