The advisory board of Drinktec and Messe München has decided to postpone the world’s leading trade fair for the beverage and liquid food industry until autumn 2022, the new date being 12-16 September 2022.
The world’s beverage industry only meets in Munich every four years.
“Companies register their innovations according to this cycle. Therefore, we had to find a suitable and timely date in the trade fair calendar. A cancellation and an eight-year gap in the trade fair would be unreasonable for the industry,” explains Reinhard Pfeiffer, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Messe München.
Drinktec’s conceptual sponsor, the VDMA (Association of the German Mechanical Engineering Industry), also supports the decision. Richard Clemens, Managing Director of the VDMA Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association, says: “The beverage industry has been hit hard by the coronavirus and needs a new impetus, which a drinktec weakened by travel restrictions could not provide. The market can look forward to an impressive drinktec 2022 that will give the whole industry the stimulus it needs”.
