The Can Manufacturers Institute (CMI) and the Household and Commercial Products Association (HCPA) have launched an Aerosol Recycling Initiative, with the support of companies throughout the aerosol value chain. The goal is to increase both the recycling of packaging and information on its recyclability on packaging.
The initiative has set clear goals between now and 2030: to ensure that at least 85 % of households have access to recycling programs that accept empty aerosol cans, and to label at least 90 % of packaging as recyclable, including instructions on how to recycle them correctly.
With this action, the associations seek to promote the circular economy in the household and commercial products sector, making it easier for consumers to properly dispose of aerosols and promoting more sustainable waste management.
