Sun Chemical and X-Rite have incorporated new color libraries for metal packaging into the PantoneLIVE digital ecosystem, focused on improving color consistency and predictability in two-piece aluminum cans. The update is designed for brands, converters, and manufacturers to control colors from start to finish, reducing errors and production delays.

The new libraries include more than 4,000 color options and are compatible with matte and glossy finishes, allowing the use of opaque and transparent inks, in line with the growing demand for matte varnishes in metal packaging. In addition, integration with X-Rite measurement tools, such as ColorCert®, Color iQC, Autura™ Ink, MeasureColor, and Ci64 spectrophotometers, facilitates connected and measurable digital color management.

The libraries are available through the PantoneLIVE Production – Print and Packaging subscription, offering the metal packaging supply chain a more efficient and sustainable workflow, avoiding custom color developments and rework during new productions.
