INX International Ink Co. reported a slight decrease in its energy consumption in 2024, consolidating the reduction initiated in 2023 compared to 2022 levels. 90% of the electricity used came from regulated grids, supported by efficiency projects such as heat recovery, shutdown management, operational optimization, and transition to LED lighting. This is what its latest sustainability report published in September highlights.
INX assures in this same report that to offset scope 2 emissions, the company acquired Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs and EACs) at its Arlington and Brazil plants, and plans a power purchase agreement (PPA) in Homewood. Old equipment was also updated with a focus on efficiency and ergonomics.
In scope 3, which covers 96% of the value chain footprint, the main emitters were purchased goods and services (50.6%) and processing of sold products (43.8%). Emissions were calculated considering energy consumption in customer facilities and VOC release, converted to CO₂-equivalent according to EU and IPCC standards.
INX continues to apply a framework of sustainable solutions that includes circular and bio-based inputs, solvent reduction, process efficiency, and energy transition, reinforcing its commitment to environmental innovation and reducing the climate impact of its products.
The President and CEO of INX, Bryce Kristo, emphasizes that the company has focused its efforts on next-generation technologies, strengthening alliances throughout the value chain, regulatory compliance, and improving leading practices in the sector to achieve a measurable impact on sustainability.
“In 2024, we intensified the reduction of greenhouse gases in our global operations, improved resource efficiency, and developed innovative and environmentally friendly product lines, which help our customers meet their sustainable objectives,” Kristo explained. “These achievements reflect a culture based on transparency, accountability, and collaboration between areas.”
The report also includes details on the Sakata INX 2030 vision, corporate social responsibility initiatives, circular economy objectives, responsible purchasing program, and environmental policies with specific goals, showing INX’s continued commitment to sustainability. The report also offers information on INX sustainable products and a resource library with case studies, technical reports, and specialized documents, is available for download on the company’s website.
