Sonoco Products Company has received official accreditation from the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC), an organization that promotes responsible business practices in the pet industry.

The company, which joined the PSC in 2024, has been recognized for its demonstrable progress in environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and corporate transparency.

Scott Byrne, Global Vice President of Sustainability at Sonoco, stated that “the pet sector is a great opportunity to apply our expertise where it matters most: to people, animals, and the planet”.

Sonoco stands out for offering packaging that combines durability, moisture protection, and recyclability. Its two- and three-piece steel cans guarantee freshness and resistance, while its rigid cardboard containers contain up to 90% recycled fiber, thus reducing environmental impact without compromising product shelf life.

One example is the collaboration with the German start-up DoggyLove, which has launched its snacks in Sonoco’s GREENCAN packaging, made with up to 98% fiber, recyclable, and with high print quality.

Beyond packaging, the company also promotes social initiatives through the Sonoco in Action foundation, such as its collaboration with the Darlington County Humane Society, aimed at improving animal welfare and education in Hartsville, South Carolina, the city where it is headquartered.
