The Italian association ANICAV (National Association of Vegetable Preserves Industrialists) has launched a campaign in Qatar to highlight the qualities of European and Italian canned tomatoes. Under the slogan Red Gold From Europe, the initiative focuses on the quality, food safety, sustainability, and versatility of this product.

The increase in imports from the European Union by Qatar—which went from 3.2 million euros in 2023 to 3.58 million in 2024—has been mainly driven by Italian processed tomatoes, whose sales grew from 3.04 to 3.41 million euros. For ANICAV, this reflects the appreciation of Qatari consumers for the authenticity and nutritional value of Italian products.

As the campaign highlights, each can contains sun-ripened tomatoes processed under strict European hygienic standards, ensuring a safe and tasty product for Qatari households.

The environmental component is also key: the companies associated with ANICAV adopt sustainable agricultural practices, minimize food waste, and use environmentally responsible packaging.

The versatility of canned tomatoes is also promoted as an added value, being suitable for both traditional Arab recipes and Italian dishes or contemporary gastronomic proposals.

“We want to share the best of European canned tomatoes with Qatar”, said Giovanni De Angelis, general director of ANICAV, who emphasized the commitment to quality, safety, and respect for the environment.
