The Spanish Metal Packaging Association (AME) has presented its 2024 Corporate Report, highlighting the strategic role of metal as a recyclable and sustainable material, as well as the sector’s progress in an increasingly demanding regulatory context.
According to the report, steel and aluminum not only meet but significantly exceed European recycling targets. AME emphasizes that these materials are fundamental for a real circular economy, as they are permanent and 100% recyclable resources.
During 2024, the association strengthened its support for companies in the sector through training sessions and specialized advice, in order to facilitate adaptation to the new European packaging regulation, which will be mandatory in 2026. It also strengthened its presence in strategic alliances and European platforms such as Metal Packaging Europe, from where it promotes the recognition of metals as key materials for the industry of the future.
Among the most prominent communication actions is the campaign “Metal recycles forever”, awarded the Corresponsables Prize for its impact on environmental awareness and its alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The campaign was also featured in the Infinito Awards, which recognized creative and educational initiatives in favor of recycling and sustainability.
The Report also highlights the importance of the national metal packaging industry, composed of more than 40 associated and affiliated companies that employ over 6,000 professionals, and underlines the advantages of metal as a packaging material due to its strength, safety, and durability.
With almost a century of history, AME reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development, technological innovation, and active representation of the sector in the face of current and future challenges.
