With the arrival of summer, Damm relaunches its well-known summer campaign to promote aluminum can recycling along the Mediterranean coast. The brewery has deployed nearly 400 compacting machines in various coastal towns, with the aim of facilitating proper waste management and promoting the reuse of this completely recyclable material.
During the last edition of this initiative, more than 6 tons of aluminum were recovered—a figure achieved for the second consecutive year—equivalent to about 600,000 recycled cans. This achievement represents a reduction in CO₂ emissions comparable to those generated by a car running continuously for more than twelve months.
This action, with over 30 years of history, has become an effective model of accessible recycling on the Mediterranean coast. The installed machines allow users to directly deposit their cans, which are then compacted, transported, and processed to recover the aluminum. This is cleaned, melted, and converted into new sheets, ready for reuse, giving rise to a truly circular production cycle.
In 2021, Damm was recognized as the first company worldwide to obtain the double certification from the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI), both in the performance standard and in the chain of custody. This distinction endorses the company’s commitment to the highest standards of environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and ethical governance throughout its supply chain.
