Speira, a European aluminum producer and recycler, strengthens its commitment against climate change by obtaining validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its short-term and long-term emission reduction targets. This approval confirms that its goals are aligned with the scientific standards of the Paris Agreement, which aims to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

The company commits to achieving climate neutrality across its entire value chain by 2045. In the short term, it aims to reduce its direct and indirect emissions (Scopes 1 and 2) by 51.2% by 2030, compared to 2021 levels, and decrease Scope 3 emissions related to goods, services, and upstream transportation by 25%.

In the long term, Speira plans to cut Scope 1 emissions by 90% by 2040 and maintain that figure until 2045. The same applies to Scope 2 emissions, with a target of 90% reduction by 2035. Regarding Scope 3, the goal is also a 90% reduction by 2045, encompassing all indirect activities, from raw materials to transportation, travel, and capital goods.

With this clear and verifiable roadmap, Speira promotes a more sustainable supply chain, encouraging its suppliers to join the decarbonization effort through energy efficiency, innovation, and renewable energy.
