During Pac MechEx 2025, the Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association (MCMA) actively participated as an industry partner of the event. In parallel to the exhibition, on April 2nd, the MCMA organized the seminar entitled “CAN – THE FUTURE”, bringing together leading representatives of the metal packaging sector.

The event was inaugurated by the Mr. Sanjay BhatiaChairman and CEO of MCMA and Hindustan Tin Works Ltd, who welcomed the attendees and presented a vision on how to position the can as the preferred packaging of the future.

Throughout the seminar, several presentations were made:

  • Mr. Ujjal ChakrabortiTata Steel‘s Tinplate Division, presented the company’s developments aimed at improving the sustainability of cans.
  • Ms. Soumya Nair, from Envirocare Laboratory Labs, explained the various analytical tests they perform to evaluate both cans and the food products packaged in them.
  • Mr. Alain D’haeseThe Secretary General of the European Aerosol Federation (FEA), spoke virtually to detail the forthcoming European regulations on metal recycling.
  • Mr. SreenathaThe company’s CEO of Easy Open Ends, presented his company’s efforts to increase production capacity in order to respond to the growing demand from can manufacturers and ensure continuous supply for the processed food industry.

The round tables were moderated by Mr. FT Ritesh MathurF2F Consultants founder and vice president of the AFST Mumbai chapter. During these sessions, key questions were posed to a panel of experts consisting of:

  • Mr. Amit AgrawalTata Steel’s Director of Marketing and Sales, Tata Steel Tinplate Division
  • Mr. Kartik Nayakco-CEO of Shetron

The panel’s interventions kept the attention of the audience, who also actively participated with relevant questions that received clear and pertinent answers.

Among the attendees were prominent members of the MCMA committee, including the Mr. Purushottam Patel (Asian Containers), Mr. Ashok Kulkarni (Kaira Can Company Limited) and Mr. Om Agarwal (Caps Containers).
