The last cannery in Redondela, Conservas Rodríguez Pascual, closes permanently because its owners have reached retirement age.
Founded in 1961 in Redondela, Pontevedra, Conservas Rodríguez Pascual was noted for the production of high-quality canned tuna, sardines and seafood, and was a benchmark in the Galician canning industry. The factory, located in the port of Cesantes, ceased operations at the end of 2024.
The La Coca brand has its origins in Conservas JOB, founded in the early 20th century, and went through several generations before being acquired by Rodríguez Pascual in the 1960s. The tradition and artisanal quality of its products made it famous in 15 countries. With the closure of the factory, a long trajectory in the preservation of Galician products comes to an end.
