Chat Cola workers have been struggling to satisfy the Palestinian thirst for local products since the Gaza war broke out last year. Other brands such as Coca-Cola have clearly lowered their consumption because local consumers consider them to be pro-Israeli brands.
“Demand for Chat Cola has increased since the war began because of the boycott,” owner Fahed Arar told Agence France-Press at his factory in the occupied West Bank town of Salfit.
Many restaurants in Ramallah, south of Gaza, said they have counted on local alternative drinks since the war began in October last year. Sales of traditional Coca-Cola have also dropped in supermarkets while sales of Palestinian products continue to rise.
This is the way to punish products they consider allies of the United States or very American, although there is no truth to the widespread rumor that Coca-Cola gave products to the Israeli army.
The United States provides substantial military aid to Israel, aid that has continued during the devastating military operation in Gaza that Israel launched in response to the unprecedented Hamas attack of October 7, 2023.
