A delegation of the BNG, composed of MEP Ana Miranda and deputies Carmela Gonzalez and Brais Ruanova, met Thursday with representatives of Anfaco-Cecopesca, moving the commitment of the block by the canning sector, to be of “vital importance” to the Galician economy.
“In the BNG we are committed to our industry and the Galician canning industry, a very important sector in many of our towns, an internationalized sector and a sector that creates many jobs,” Miranda said after the meeting, according to the Block in a statement.
During the meeting, several issues related to the fish and seafood processing sector were discussed, as well as problems related to international agreements, but also to the “absence” of trade policy and industrial support from the European Union.
“We can not allow under the umbrella of the absent trade policy of the EU to leave this sector in second place, as has happened these years. Therefore, also in Europe we will defend the Galician processing industry,” added Miranda.
On behalf of the canning industry employers’ association, its secretary general, Roberto Alonso, as well as Rosa Nieto and Juan Montáns were present at the meeting.
