AEROBAL has announced the winners of the Aluminum Aerosol Can Awards 2024. Categories of ‘Aluminum Aerosol Cans already on the market’, ‘Prototypes’ and ‘Sustainability’.

⦁ Aluminum aerosol cans already on the market
Trivium Packaging USA and Turkish manufacturer Aryum won in this category. Aryum’s winning can was a non-carbonated men’s perfume from the J. Company brand. J. is Pakistan’s premium fashion and fragrance brand, designed by J. Junaid Jamshed Pvt Ltd. for the late musician and fashion designer of the same name.

In search of an innovative aluminum can solution for its new non-carbonated perfume projects, the company opted for Aryum’s innovative can technology: ‘360° Embossed Shaping with Oriented Printing’. As a result, the ‘J.’ brand stands out with an embossed square shape. The jury felt that this gave the can a unique feature, and the tactile experience of the all-around molding was also considered effective.

The second winning can in this category was produced by Trivium Packaging USA for Grand Tongo of Newport Beach in California. With its innovative approach to insect repellents.

Grand Tongo has incorporated a bag-on-valve system that allows for fine mist spraying, delivering the repellent effectively and efficiently. This system minimizes waste and ensures that each application is consistent, enhancing the user experience.

Prototypes
Nussbaum took first place in this category. The 15 bar aerosol cans with a diameter of 40 mm, equipped with an innovative segmented thread and matching caps. The cans, with a standardized 1-inch opening, are perfectly compatible with established fittings such as nozzles and valves. The segmented thread facilitates simple and secure fitting of a lid that prevents unintentional diffusion of the contents, both during transport and in daily use. The excellent sealing also protects against moisture and dust, which is ideal for special applications.

Sustainability
The Adidas ‘Best of the Best’ aluminum can, produced by Trivium Packaging Brazil, received the ‘sustainability’ award. This deodorant project was a collaboration between Adidas and the UEFA Champions League.
Produced by Trivium Packaging Brazil, the can’s design highlights fine detailed ‘fingers’ on the front, in pink, merged with the background blue. Trivium developed two special blues, so that when one overlaps the other, there are no visual marks, but a smooth transition, special inks were used, bringing more brightness and prominence to the elements. The 45×148 mm flat-shouldered can was developed using PivotAL, a proprietary advanced aluminum alloy that contains up to 25% recycled content and is produced through an innovative process in which aluminum is used in liquid phase. This eliminated the need to cast ingots as in the traditional process. The alloy was produced using renewable energy, thus ensuring lower carbon emission rates. In addition, the internal varnish used was reduced by almost 50%, which also contributed to a lower greenhouse gas emissions footprint of the packaging.
