Following the devastation caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, Molson Coors donated nearly 280,000 cans of fresh water to help residents of Tampa and St. Petersburg, Florida; Kingsport, Tennessee; and Asheville and Hickory in North Carolina.

Michael Nordman, senior manager of community affairs for Molson Coors, explained that the company can use water from one of its breweries to collect clean drinking water year-round for disaster relief efforts.
“Our brewery in Trenton, Ohio, sits on top of a natural aquifer,”, he said. “Each year, we stop and clean one of our beer lines to produce high-quality canned drinking water for use in emergencies like now, when residents of Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina and other areas desperately need fresh water.”

Nordman noted that this was a joint effort that required cooperation among several companies.
La Ball Corporation provided the cans, while Graphic Packaging International donated the cartons for the 12-packs. To provide relief after Hurricane Helene, Molson Coors worked with two Wisconsin-based logistics companies, C.H. Robinson and Millis Transfer, to help transport nearly 190,000 cans of water from its Milwaukee and Shenandoah breweries to local distributors. The shipment was particularly complicated because flooding had destroyed many of the normal routes.

To help residents in need in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, Molson Coors is shipping 90,000 cans of water from its Milwaukee and Golden breweries to the J. J. Taylor Companies, Inc. warehouse in Fort Myers. From there, it will be distributed to people in need on Florida’s west coast, including Tampa and St. Petersburg.
“It really takes a concerted effort to accomplish this,” Nordman said.Nordman said.

Molson Coors also donated $10,000 to World Central Kitchen in Asheville. “They have been a leader on the ground providing meals and water, which is what is most needed in that community right now,” Nordman said.

History of Relief
Molson Coors has a long history of providing natural disaster relief. In 2017, Molson Coors established a partnership with Ball Corporation. Since the partnership began, they have provided nearly three million cans of water to areas affected by natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods and wildfires.

Earlier this year, Molson Coors sent 50,000 cans of water to communities in northwest Iowa after heavy flooding.

“These are our communities and our neighbors, so where there is a need for canned water, we want to be able to respond quickly.”said Nordman.
