A charitable initiative succeeded in raising funds and gathering volunteers to support children suffering from Down syndrome in the city of Poços de Caldas. The event aimed to help this vulnerable community and mobilize society in a noble cause.
Last October, Alcoa Poços de Caldas joined forces with the Alcoa Institute to carry out its sixth charitable action in support of the Malu de Amor Association, an organization that provides care for children with Down syndrome up to the age of six in the city of Poços de Caldas, Brazil.
An event was held at Parroquia São Judas Tadeu, with the participation of eighteen volunteers, including Alcoa employees, friends and relatives from the community. These volunteers helped care for, organize and carry out activities for the children. In addition, the Alcoa Institute made a donation of R$10,000 to the association as a token of its support.
The money raised during the event will be used to purchase necessary equipment for the therapies provided by the institution and also to improve its facilities. Giannotti, who is responsible for the Refinery and Bauxite Waste (ARB) section and is also the representative of the Poços de Caldas Leading Team (Elap), highlighted the relevance of volunteering and the work done by Alcoa in the communities.
“It is very important that we strengthen volunteerism among leaders and employees so that the surrounding residents continue to develop along with our plant.”
they concluded.
