Novelis highlighted its feat by claiming that it had achieved the highest level of recycling in aluminum-laminated production. Sixty-one percent of the inputs for this activity were recycled products during the fiscal year ending March 31, 2023.
Novelis credits its innovations and partnerships focused on the concept of circularity as a driver for recycling huge quantities of aluminum. Last year they managed to recycle close to 2.3 million tons, including 82 billion used soft drink cans. Their commitment is also reflected in their investment: they have invested nearly $2 billion in completed and announced projects since 2011.
More and more companies are striving to help the environment by reducing their carbon emissions. As part of this effort, one company is implementing a program to use recycled aluminum in its products to reduce its carbon footprint throughout its value chain. This requires 95% less energy than the original production and will emit 95% less carbon.
Previously, the Energy Transitions Commission believed that plans related to low-carbon steel could be increased significantly over the next 36 months, doing the right thing by trying to calm polluting production and allowing up to 190 million tons per year of environmental products to be reached by 2030 if there are satisfactory financial investments.
