⦁ Combining circular packaging and an infinitely recyclable closure, Eviosys’ packaging innovations continue to support brands on their path to a more sustainable future
At this year’s London Packaging Week, Eviosys is launching a unique, all-metal “Horizon” packaging solution that pushes the boundaries of lightweight, sustainable packaging.
The new Horizon overcap is the first of its kind, an innovation for the packaging industry that has the potential to make plastic products a relic of the past. The new shallow metal overcaps are not only infinitely recyclable, but also ultra-lightweight. This means that fewer raw materials are needed to manufacture customer packaging, which benefits the environment.
Horizon is a visually appealing and sustainable product for customers, while maintaining optimum product protection for dry food storage. With Horizon overcaps, cans become easily stackable for maximum efficiency, creating more space in consumers’ pantries.
Environmentally friendly, made with less material and an ultra-thin design, Horizon represents a radical shift in sustainable packaging and allows brands to move away from obsolete plastic closures and embrace a particularly innovative design. Fully customizable, Horizon gives any dry product packaged in metal cans a seamless quality look and feel.
In a recent consumer survey* conducted by Eviosys, 81% of European consumers said they cared about the environment, and three-quarters (74%) of respondents considered metal packaging to be more sustainable than plastic, although unfortunately this is not yet reflected on supermarket shelves.
According to the report by the Environmental Investigation Agency and Greenpeace, the total amount of plastic packaging used by the UK’s largest supermarkets increased from an estimated 886,000 tonnes in 2017 to 903,000 tonnes in 2018. Shoppers (62%) are angry or frustrated with the amount of plastic in supermarket aisles. With Horizon, Eviosys offers brands a product that will satisfy the growing environmental awareness of end consumers.
Olivier Aubry, Eviosys Commercial Director, said:
“Horizon is the latest offering from Eviosys, which is leading the sustainable packaging industry with actions and not just rhetoric. Our continued drive to facilitate the creation of sustainable packaging solutions with innovation enables us to make more cost-effective, efficient and sustainable products available to our customers.”
