Colep Packaging announced that its CEO, Paulo Sousa, has been appointed as the new president of Metal Packaging Europe (MPE) for the 2023-2025 term. The election took place during the MPE’s Annual General Meeting, which was held in Porto, Portugal, last week, bringing together nearly 100 participants and representatives of the European metal packaging industry.
Paulo Sousa, who succeeds Oliver Graham as president of the Association, reinforces.
“the importance of rallying the sector around promoting the benefits of metal, ensuring the industry’s growth potential.”
Metal Packaging Europe (MPE) is the European association for the rigid metal packaging industry, giving it a unified voice by bringing together manufacturers, suppliers and national associations. This platform brings together the main associations in the sector, such as Empac (metal packaging manufacturers), BCME (beverage can manufacturers), Apeal (steel producers) and the European Aluminium Association (aluminum producers).
MPE’s vision is to have all metal packaging recycled and to reach 80% recycling in Europe by 2020 1. To this end, it supports the concept of zero landfill and believes in a recycling society with the involvement of all parties.
