In early 2022, Crown Holdings received accolades across its global teams due to the accolades they received at events such as the International Metal Decorating & Packaging Association IMDPA conference. These conferences honored the innovation and differentiation of the metal packaging products that the brand offers. Crown’s cans were able to achieve a unique appearance thanks to their distinctive techniques, as well as their novel shape. The company was recognized for reducing material usage by up to 13%, achieving new efficiencies with the newly launched presentations.

Crown won important awards for the quality and innovation of its designs, which were adapted to multiple markets such as Thailand, France, the United States and Brazil. The solutions were specific to each region thanks to the enormous knowledge possessed by the design, engineering and manufacturing teams. In this way, they provided both strategic thinking and cutting-edge technology to their customers to offer them many brand benefits.

Dan Abramowicz, Crown’s Chief Technology Officer, celebrated winning the industry innovation awards. “We are proud to receive these innovation awards from leading industry organizations because they highlight the many ways in which we meet the needs of customers in any global market,” said Dan Abramowicz, Crown’s Chief Technology Officer. “From protecting brand identity to helping reduce carbon footprint, our technologies demonstrate our dedication to collaborating with our customers and differentiating them from their competitors. They also highlight our commitment to our Twentyby30 program, which aims to accelerate sustainability in metal packaging and throughout our value chain,” the executive emphasized.

The unique Chaokoh can solved a counterfeiting problem for Crown’s customer, Theppadungporn. In addition, one of Thailand’s largest coconut product fillers, realized that counterfeit cans replicated their product and, in response, Crown replaced the traditional can bead with patented Quantum.™ Engraving Technology. It also helps cans stand out on the shelf with a unique and unmistakable texture. The technology provides a distinctive golf ball pattern on the body of the can that also allows for a material reduction of nearly 13% compared to traditional beaded cans, enabling an additional benefit of significantly reducing the product’s carbon footprint.

“Crown’s design solution for Chaokoh coconut milk can address multiple business imperatives, including minimizing risk and increasing shelf distinction,” said Kieatisak Theppadungporn, director and Factory Manager of Chaokoh. “Not only does it protect the integrity of our brand, but this engraving technology improves our sustainability measures by using less material while meeting the high speeds on our existing production lines. We are consistently impressed by the way our Crown partners come up with innovative ideas and can solve numerous challenges at once.”.

“This win is the result of a true team effort to combine areas of expertise,” said Mark Gojkovich, graphics manager for Crown Midwest Graphics. “Our decorating experts at Midwest and the operations team in Spartanburg produced these outstanding cans, an accomplishment achieved by the collaborative effort of all involved.”he said
