The National Chamber of Metal Packaging Manufacturers announced the appointment of Eduardo Argueta as the new president of the chamber’s board of directors, who will hold this position until 2024. Argueta has served as president of Crown Mexico and Caribbean for the past four years.
The National Chamber of Metal Container Manufacturers is a non-profit business organization that represents, serves and supports the steel and aluminum container manufacturing industries, as well as the production of all kinds of metal caps and closures in Mexico.


This industry supplies containers, lids and caps to packers of agricultural and seafood products, soft drinks, juices, nectars and beer, as well as drums and cans to manufacturers of paints, inks, lubricating oils and greases, glues and waterproofing products, pharmaceuticals, beautifiers and personal care products, among others. Its main inputs are mainly steel sheets (tinplate, chrome-plated sheet, black sheet) and aluminum, varnishes and inks.
In 1987, a group of metal packaging manufacturers who considered the desirability of organizing themselves as a group of industrialists who could benefit from addressing issues of common interest. The initiators of this group were Grupo Zapata, Fábricas Monterrey, Crown Cork de México and Envases Generales Continental, who decided to formalize their intentions and on October 23, 1987 formed the Asociación de Fabricantes de Envases Metálicos, A.C., known as AFEMAC.


With the passage of time, and considering that their grouping was productive, they decided to become a Chamber, so they began the process in early 1993 and on July 29, 1993, the Constitutive Assembly of the National Chamber of Metal Packaging Manufacturers (CANAFEM) was held.


The basic objective of this business organization is to work on the linkage and integration of the entire sector in order to strengthen the industrial branch and the Mexican business organization.
