Recently, Crown Holdings Inc. the U.S. company that produces metal containers, was recognized in the first-ever ranking of U.S. climate leaders by USA TODAY and Statista. This group of 2,000 companies was evaluated based on their carbon footprints and commitment to reducing GHG emissions, highlighting the effective and sustainable leadership demonstrated by Crown in addressing climate change.
When USA TODAY began its list of U.S. climate leaders, they had one goal in mind: to guide investors and clients in assessing the sustainability of their peers or potential partners. This would help them understand that proactive climate action will become increasingly important for future financial survival. The publication highlights the climate impact of companies and their ability to demonstrate progress as essential not only to meet government requirements, but also to preserve the positive perception of investors, customers and consumers.
For this assessment, several tests were carried out on different aspects such as emissions intensity in relation to annual income, energy consumption reductions and moral business practices. In the end, it was reduced to 400 companies that proved to be consistent in their efforts to reduce their environmental impact. This allowed the Crown to be included, which shows its dedication to meeting its stated environmental commitments.
“It is our priority to continue to make progress on the emissions reduction goals we established with our Twentyby30™ sustainability program, and we are honored to be included on USA TODAY’s inaugural U.S. Climate Leaders list as a result of that progress,” said John Rost, Ph.D., Crown’s vice president of Global Sustainability and Regulatory Affairs. “With climate action a critical concern around the world, we must do our part as a major organization to demonstrate that it is not only possible to reduce our carbon footprint and still maintain a successful business, but that it is imperative to do so. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with others in the supply chain to increase our collective impact in the coming years.”added the head of the company.
Crown Corporation has just debuted its Twentyby30™ program, a strategy that seeks to put itself at the forefront of sustainability through 20 clear and achievable goals for 2030. The project focuses on reducing emissions, but also seeks to conserve water, recycle waste and improve the supply chain in an ethical manner. The annual results of the program will be reported in a forthcoming report to be released shortly.
