The secretary general of the National Association of Manufacturers of Canned Fish and Seafood (Anfaco-Cecopesca), Roberto Alonso, again called for a lowering of VAT on products of the marine-industry sector. A request that he ratified during his participation in the meeting of the Círculo de Empresarios de Galicia adding in this regard that: “I believe that the Government of Spain is wrong”.

“This is not only a measure that would benefit the sector, but also the health of our citizens”,
reiterated the general secretary of Anfaco-Cecopesca. During his speech, Alonso also questioned the non-requirement of quality, sustainability and food safety standards for imports from third countries outside the European Union, which are mandatory here.
He went on to call for a competitive legislative framework that provides legal certainty to the sector.
