Damm, a leading company in the food and beverage industry, has had no problem standing out, as was confirmed during the General Shareholders’ Meeting held at its Old Estrella Damm Factory. The results presented are undoubtedly spectacular, with sales exceeding 1,876 million euros, 26% more than in 2021, and a net profit of 101.5 million euros. In addition, the number of jobs grew significantly, with 5,577 workers, 9.35% more than in the previous year.
Last year, Damm experienced significant growth in its turnover reaching €1,876 million, representing an increase of 26% compared to the previous year; however, its net profit decreased slightly something that can be attributed to the hiring of 5,577 workers (registering an increase of 9.35% compared to 2019).
According to Demetrio Carceller, executive chairman of Damm, the hotel sector has shown a good capacity for growth in the first months of the year, and the outlook for tourism is promising. Therefore, 2023 is expected to be a year of growth for the company, despite supply chain tensions and inflation.
During 2022, the company was the brewing group with the highest market share growth in production. In addition, the sector in general has recovered after two years affected by the pandemic. However, there were also tensions in the supply chain.
Last year, Damm was able to generate half a thousand jobs, and its impact extends beyond national boundaries with an activity that covers more than 130 countries around the world. In addition, the company has managed to export 30% of its products abroad.
During the last decade, Damm has implemented an ambitious internationalization strategy that has made it possible for Damm’s business in the foreign market to account for more than 30% of its activity, with its brands present in more than 130 countries.
In order to continue growing abroad and make the company’s international operations more profitable and efficient, Damm closed in November 2022 the acquisition of the British brewery Eagle Brewery located in the English town of Bedford. This plant – Damm’s second brewery abroad – reinforces Damm’s presence in the United Kingdom, one of the company’s main international markets where the Damm portfolio of beers continues to gain market share year after year.
