As part of its effort to promote a more sustainable future, Tata Steel has established a strategic alliance aimed at educating and raising awareness of steel container recycling at the local level and in their communities.

Specifically, Tata Steel recently announced a key partnership with LARAC (Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee), an organization recognized by UK local authorities in matters related to recycling, waste and resource management. This new partnership means that Tata Steel, in addition to being one of the world’s largest steel suppliers, also becomes a major steel reprocessor in the United Kingdom.

The purpose of this agreement will be to make the citizens of the United Kingdom and its authorities aware of the importance of including steel packaging recycling in order to achieve a greener and more sustainable future, thanks to the development of a much more environmentally friendly system. This will promote the wide range of products that can be placed in recycling garbage cans. Stainless steel cutlery and reusable jars, for example, should not find a home in recycling garbage cans, while aerosols, jar lids, bottle caps, food and beverage cans and cookie tins should.

Nicola Jones, Steel Container Recycling Manager, said that “our partnership with LARAC marks a major step forward for our campaign to educate consumers and local authorities across the country about the incredible power of steel container recycling.”

“Consumers’ recycling habits can determine the quality of the bales we receive to melt. If they adopt the right recycling habits, putting the right items in the right recycling garbage cans, then the quality of the bales is high, leading to higher recycling rates.” Jones added.

“Our partnership with LARAC will help us increase the visibility of related issues and solutions at the grassroots level, through local authorities. We will not see the results immediately, but, over time, together we will have a significant and positive impact,” she reiterated. she reiterated.

Tata Steel, together with LARAC, will highlight and promote its structure for collecting and recycling waste in the UK, as it is a necessary partner for the 311 waste and recycling institutes in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. In addition to having its proactive infrastructures in place, direct messages can be delivered to waste officers by conducting webinars and other educational materials such as blog articles or even bi-monthly emails.
In addition, both organizations will also help promote Metal Matters, the communications program that helps local authorities educate households about metal packaging recycling and motivate them to boost their recycling habits.

Recently, the Tata Steel Group was recognized as one of the most ethical companies internationally, and also stands out as one of the largest producers of crude steel annually, producing around 34 million tons per year. It has also committed to produce emission-free steel by 2050, and to reduce its CO2 emissions by 30% by 2030.
