French beverage start-up naka recently introduced the latest addition to its product line: a can called “naka moonlight” containing a natural water with CBD, featuring a unique design by illustrator Jason Lyon. This can joins the existing “naka sunset” can to form part of the product’s unique graphic universe, helping to consolidate the brand’s identity in all its packaging.

The work of the artist Jason Lyon, originally from China but based in the United Kingdom, manages to capture a modern and surreal atmosphere through nature. Its jellyfish are composed of multiple bright colors while adding a “night nosferatu” background to generate the naka moonlight variant. This combination creates a spatial environment in which it is clear that the important thing is to enjoy the serenity of the moment.

Yan Decock and Lorène Tanchou, motivated by the changes in routine experienced during the 2020 confinement, decided to introduce to the market a new and novel beverage that will help them relax. Branded as “naka”, this non-alcoholic beverage has a CBD content equivalent to 30 mg per can, strong enough to offer a refreshing and relaxing experience thanks to its fruity notes. Its low carbohydrate and sugar content makes it perfect for those interested in following the “NOLO” (non-alcoholic or low-alcoholic) or functional beverage trends.

The naka cans are made with AMP’s Premium Print finish that enhances image visualization to boost impact. Performance, solid colors, midtones, hues, and text readability have been well controlled with dry offset. . Gerlof Toenhake, Ardagh Metal Packaging’s Regional Sales Director – Europe, said, “The first naka can was already a head-turner, a great example of what can be done when a customer’s fantastic creative ideas meet the dedicated technical expertise of our local graphics teams, which are located throughout Europe. The new naka moonlight can is another triumph, combining beautifully with the original and enhancing the overall naka brand.”

On the other hand, Lorène Tanchou, co-founder of naka, commented: “Working closely with AMP’s graphics team at La Ciotat helped us to ensure the perfect look once again for our second product. From initial color selection, to approving the proof cans and taking them through to final high-speed production, all steps went smoothly and meant we were able to achieve a timely market introduction for naka moonlight.”

The naka CBD drink is presented in a modern and slim 250 ml aluminum bottle, which is designed to highlight the verticality of the bottle. This can was produced by the experts at Cacolac, a family-owned company based near Bordeaux. Cans are lightweight, safe and infinitely recyclable, making them a good medium for transportation, in-store storage and in-store refrigeration. In addition, this also facilitates home delivery, thus enabling Naka to expand its distribution through e-commerce.

Naka beverage cans have become popular in France, being available in the main Catalan supermarkets and retail stores, such as Monoprix, Casino and Franprix. The goal is for naka to become a reference within the emerging CBD beverage sector, and ultimately to be exported to make it more accessible.
