CERCEIMAR INDUSTRIES TEMPORARILY PARALYZES ITS ACTIVITY DUE TO LOW TURNOVER

Industrias Cerdeimar temporarily paralyzed its production activity while it seeks solutions for the future in view of the drop in production of the Galician canning company.

The A Coruña-based company Industrias Cerdeimar has been forced to stop its activity until May due to the economic problems it has been experiencing in recent years as a result of the drop in its turnover. The entry of a new shareholder, the boosting of its commercial activity and the evolution of its investments in new businesses are key factors in the company’s recovery.

Specifically, the management of the Camariñan cannery gave forced vacations to the workers until January 2 while it negotiates the dossier. On the other hand, the workers of the cannery Cerdeimar are requesting the termination of their contracts due to successive non-payments. The workers maintain that the financial crisis at the Camariña cannery is irreversible and they prefer to be paid the debt, some 7,000 euros per employee, and the corresponding liquidation according to seniority in order not to prolong their labor relationship with the cannery.
