The Social Bank of Cans launched a few months ago in Chile overcame its first challenge and decided to open participation to new establishments. Since its launch four months ago, this environmental education platform has already collected more than 6 tons of aluminum cans, confirming the commitment of its participants.

Under the slogan ‘Don’t be afraid to recycle your can’, the Social Bank of Cans has more than 500 establishments that have taken on the challenge of collecting as many cans as possible and that also receive a Kyklos environmental education program on recycling and circular economy. In 2022, Ball, a world leader in sustainable aluminum packaging, joins as a promoter in order to amplify the environmental and social impact of the Social Can Bank in educational establishments.

Nearly 30,000 students from 500 schools located in the Metropolitan Region were involved in the first stage of the Social Bank of Cans. There were 54 schools that passed the 6×1 Challenge (6 containers per student), which reflects the good conditions for the entire triple impact campaign, which seeks to remove and reduce the negative impacts of the introduction of aluminum cans through recycling, encouraging the habit from the new generations and through environmental education.

Thanks to this solidarity initiative, nearly 450,000 aluminum cans will be recycled and revalued to support the Patio Vivo Foundation, which is dedicated to implementing learning landscapes in schools, colleges and kindergartens in vulnerable contexts. The same objective for which this year Ball, a world leader in sustainable aluminum packaging, decided to join the Social Can Bank project, created by Kyklos and Metalum, in addition to amplifying the environmental and social impact in schools.
