The Association of Technological Centers of Galicia has a new president. Jesús Ángel Lago Gestido, general manager of the AIMEN technology center, is from now on the new president of the Association of Galician Technology Centers (ATIGA), thus relieving Juan Manuel Vieites Baptista de Sousa, who held the presidency as representative of ANFACO-CECOPESCA since the constitution of the association in 2012.
Jesús Lago, industrial engineer by the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniero Industriales de Vigo and with an extensive experience of more than 34 years in the field of innovation and technology, assumes from now on the presidency with a continuity character. Among its main objectives is to strengthen the positioning of Galician technology centers in the national and international scene, promoting the creation of synergies and collaboration between the technology centers that comprise it.
Lago, will have to face new challenges such as those related to attracting greater public and private investment in R&D&I to Galicia and extending the culture of innovation to the entire business fabric; strengthening the capabilities of Galician technology centers and greater collaboration between companies and knowledge centers, generating a favorable environment for retaining and attracting talent.
Finally, ATIGA, an association made up of the seven statewide Galician technology centers recognized by the Spanish Government (AIMEN, ANFACO-CECOPESCA, CETIM, CTAG, ENERGYLAB, GRADIANT and ITG), achieved revenues of close to €90 million in 2021. In addition, every year it develops more than 450 R&D&I projects, a significant number of which are European and international in scope.
