The multinational Crown Holding recently published its sustainability report for the past year. Specifically, Crown’s comprehensive Twentyby30 program includes 20 measurable sustainability targets to be completed by the end of 2030, all set against a 2019 baseline. Specifically, the program has five key pillars: Climate Action, Resource Efficiency, Optimal Circularity, Working Together and Never Compromise.
John Rost, Crown’s vice president of global sustainability and regulatory affairs, is delighted, saying, “We are incredibly proud of the progress we have made in implementing our Twentyby30 program in the last year.
Important challenges ahead include such important issues as reducing emissions, product life cycle and recyclability to slow the pace of climate change, transitioning to renewable energy, prioritizing water protection, improving employee and product safety, and increasing diversity in the workforce.
The report also adheres to the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), which Crown recently signed as a participant. The multinational has also accelerated the adoption of the indicators defined by the Sustainable Accounting Standards Board’s container and packaging standard, and is mapping progress on seven other key indicators, all set by the United Nations. Crown’s climate results also follow the guidelines of the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures.
