The multinational company Novelis has announced an investment of around 30 million dollars to meet the growing demand for coffee capsules made from recycled aluminum.
Specifically, the company, a world leader in aluminum rolling and recycling, confirms that it will build a new continuous annealing line at its facilities in Plettenberg-Ohle, Germany. This additional line will double the plant’s capacity for aluminum used in the production of coffee capsules, a market that is growing due to the increasing demand for sustainable packaging solutions.
More and more coffee brands are choosing aluminum instead of plastic to produce fresh, long-lasting coffee capsules. In addition, aluminum is a perfect material for the circular economy and resource efficiency because it can be recycled over and over again without losing its properties.
In its firm commitment to innovation, Novelis is developing novel alloys, such as those used in the production of coffee capsules made from more than 80 percent recycled aluminum. “The investment demonstrates our commitment to serve as a trusted partner to our customers in the food and packaging industry and create more sustainable solutions for consumers,” says Emilio Braghi, executive vice president and president of Novelis Europe.
