Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI) has announced that TBC Ball Beverage Can Vietnam Limited has been successfully certified to ASI’s (interim) performance standard and chain of custody standard for the responsible production, sourcing and management of aluminum for its production facility outside Ho Chi Minh City. City, Vietnam.

Specifically, the interim certification of the plant’s Performance Standard was achieved under ASI’s Interim Policy on Audits, Audit-Related Travel and Coronavirus, which clarifies reasonable adaptations that can be made to audit plans in consideration of COVID-19’s current situation.

The ASI Certification program is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standards initiative for the aluminum value chain and also defines environmental, social and governance principles and criteria to address sustainability issues in the aluminum value chain.

Specifically, it establishes 59 criteria under the three sustainability pillars of Governance, Environment and Social, which address key issues such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples’ rights and greenhouse gas emissions. The ASI CoC standard sets out the requirements for the creation of a Chain of Custody for material that is produced and processed along the value chain in various downstream sectors.

LiberoAssurance also conducted the independent third-party audits of the TBC Ball Beverage Can Vietnam Limited plant. This audit was conducted as a desktop exercise with a remote review of relevant documentation.
