The Aluminum Packaging Recycling Organization (Alupro) has appointed Tom Giddings as its new executive director. Previously serving as interim general manager, Giddings will now be responsible for leading Alupro as it works to meet the industry’s obligation to meet and exceed aluminum packaging recycling targets.
In addition, he will act as the industry’s independent voice on issues of government policy and legislative development and will also spearhead Alupro’s Every Can Counts and MetalMatters consumer education programs. In this regard Giddings adds that “my role will include sharing Alupro’s expertise and working to further stimulate the UK collection infrastructure. Inspiring collaboration across value chains and sectors is key to achieving this goal and will be critical to both seizing the opportunities and addressing the challenges of recycling head-on.
“I am committed to promoting the benefits of aluminum packaging and celebrating its role within a sustainable, circular and low-carbon future. With enviable properties and infinite recyclability, aluminum will remain at the forefront of the packaging industry for years to come,” he adds.
Finally, Alupro has also announced a partnership with Fun Kids that aims to improve national recycling awareness, and will soon launch its 2022 educational programs focused on best practice recycling campaigns.
