In Austria, Every Can Counts and the beverage brand KAWEA have teamed up and decided to combine recycling with skating for the environment. For the first time, they have included this campaign in the event schedule of the ‘Grazer Winterwelt’ ice rink in the capital of Styria, Austria, which has been open since last November.
Ice rink-branded can garbage cans invite people to recycle their used cans and promoters with backpacks inform visitors about beverage can recycling and why it is important.
Claudia Bierth, spokesperson for Every Can Counts Austria says, “More and more event organizers are approaching us to make their events more environmentally friendly. In the case of beverage cans, recycling not only means conservation of resources, but 95% less energy compared to the production of new aluminum. The can is a ‘perfect fit’ for the circular economy.”
Nina Mally of Grazer Winterwelt adds, “We want to offer our visitors a fantastic ice skating experience and encourage them to take care of the environment. Together with Every Can Counts and KAWEA, we have set up recycling garbage cans to collect beverage cans and return them to the recycling loop.”
