Estrella Galicia has announced in São Paulo, Brazil, the construction of its second factory away from its headquarters in Galicia. This is an old dream that the Spanish company is finally seeing come true, as difficulties in finding a location and guaranteeing the supply of excellent quality water delayed its start-up for years.
The Spanish company will invest close to 300 million euros in two phases. It is its second ‘brewery kitchen’ in the world, which could have a production capacity of 300 million liters per year in the medium term. The new plant will be located in the municipality of Araraquara, in the state of São Paulo, where a water supply of excellent quality is guaranteed, which is essential for the production of the Galician company’s beers.
After the presentation of the project, Ignacio Rivera, CEO of Corporación Hijos de Rivera, reaffirmed its commitment to the community through the creation of 400 jobs in the area at a state-of-the-art facility in terms of sustainability and respect for the environment.
In this sense, he clarified that “the start-up of our factory in Brazil is a dream come true and a historic milestone for our company that we hope will decisively drive our future development in the Americas”.
Estrella Galicia will build its factory on a 250,000 square meter plot in Araraquara, 270 kilometers from the capital. This production center, which is scheduled to open in 2023, will be a model of an environmentally sustainable factory, applying best practices and cutting-edge technologies to achieve the goal of zero emissions through various measures such as the use of clean energy and hybrid vehicles.
