Trivium Packaging, a $2.7 billion global provider of infinitely recyclable metal packaging has just announced that its corporate sustainability efforts have been recognized with a platinum medal. This is the highest rating available in the 2021 EcoVadis sustainability rankings.

EcoVadis, the world’s largest and most trusted provider of corporate sustainability ratings, awards this important recognition to only one percent of the more than 75,000 participating companies evaluated worldwide, spanning more than 160 countries and 200 industries. EcoVadis also reviews a participating organization’s performance in four evaluated categories. In particular, it analyses the areas of environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.

Michael Mapes, CEO of Trivium, is pleased to learn of the award, saying, “It is an honor to receive the Platinum rating for Trivium’s sustainability practices. We fear what matters and firmly believe that sustainability is important. We celebrate, but we also continue to move forward, shaping the metal packaging market in innovation, excellence and sustainability”.

For Jenny Wassenaar, Vice President of Sustainability adds that “we couldn’t be prouder as an organization to receive the highest honor for sustainability practices”. “Achieving Platinum recognition strengthens our conviction to continue to advance sustainable and ethical practices throughout the organization and for all of our stakeholders,” he says.

The EcoVadis rating system scales from Bronze to Silver, Gold and ultimately Platinum, with a Platinum rating recognizing a select few who are leading the way in ESG Environmental Social Governance standards. The qualification criteria are based on international standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the ten UN Global Compact Principles and ISO 26000.
